An Important Update from BARA

After 8 amazing years of serving artists across the country with quality panels and frames, we’ve had to make some difficult decisions about the future of BARA.

Some of you may know that we started BARA in 2018 as a small furniture business in Huntington Beach, California. What began as a side gig building panels for one artist quickly grew into a full-time business serving artists across the country. We poured everything we had into building BARA and, more importantly, into the relationships we’ve built with the artists who trusted us with their work.

As much as we’ve loved growing BARA, our current business model is no longer sustainable for our family. Rather than close our doors completely, we’ve decided to significantly scale back and focus on a smaller group of core artists.

Our Online Store Is Now Closed

Moving forward, we will primarily be working with artists whose individual orders typically average $2,000 or more and who spend $5,000+ annually with us. This allows us to focus on larger, less frequent orders and continue producing the quality panels we’re proud of without compromising our standards simply to produce more.

We will also be increasing our prices. Over the past 8 years, we’ve made very few price increases while some of our materials have increased in cost by as much as 500%.

As part of scaling back, we will be moving into a smaller shop and selling some of our equipment. Because of this, we will no longer be offering circles, rounded corners, or other shaped panels. For the foreseeable future, we will only be building squares and rectangles.

We know these changes will mean that some of you will need to find another panel supplier, and that truly saddens us. It has been incredibly rewarding to work with so many talented artists over the years. In many ways, we’ve felt more like a partner in your creative process than simply a supplier.

If you’re interested in continuing to work with BARA under this new model, we would genuinely love to hear from you. It will mean planning ahead and moving toward larger, less frequent orders, but we’re hopeful this new approach will allow us to keep doing what we love and continue serving the artists we’ve come to know and appreciate.

We’re still working through some of the details of this transition, so not everything is set in stone. Our priority is finding a sustainable way forward without compromising the quality and care that BARA has always been known for.

If you have questions or would like to talk about what this new model might look like for you, please email nix@barawoodshaping.com.

Thank you for 8 incredible years. We truly could not have done this without you.

With gratitude,
Nix & Bevan
